Deon Ward is a born and bred local, so it was only a matter of time before Wendi Sazama came to visit South Africa and experience firsthand the country her beloved grew up in. She ended up getting a much sweeter visit than she could ever have hoped for though.
Deon and Wendi spent two nights at HESC, and we showed our overseas guest the very best we have to offer. From a tour of the Centre, to an exciting game drive, and delicious food. The part they enjoyed most however, was definitely the time they spent interacting with our ten month old cubs: Sheila and Crunchie.
With this already being such a memorable event, the last thing Wendi expected was to discover a breathtakingly beautiful ring tied around little Crunchie’s neck, and the man of her dreams asking her to be his forever.
After this incredibly romantic moment the happy couple were whisked off to our Safari Park’s enchanting Padda Dam to further bask in their love for one another. Ironically, padda means frog in Afrikaans, but with Wendi having already found her prince, there was no need for her to kiss any of the dam’s residents.
Deon and Wendi then decided that they just had to adopt Crunchie, because not only is she their very own “engagement cheetah”, the crunchie also happens to be Wendi’s favorite chocolate!
We would like to thank them for allowing us to share in this beautiful moment in their lives and we wish them everything of the best for the years ahead.
