December Students – Update 1

We spent our first few days at HESC settling in and getting to know the animals. So far we’ve met handsome Piet and his dating wife, Lucky, the hungry zebra, Michael the magnificent King Cheetah and Eddie the caracul.

Our daytime activities include meat preparation for the cheetahs and small cats, exploring the land on horseback, feeding hungry animals at HESC and enjoying beautiful scenery at the Blyde Canyon.

We spend our evenings devouring fine South African cuisine, playing games and sitting next to a warm “braai” (barbecue) in the company of our wonderful coordinators Tabs & Karen, and our fierce guard dog Noddy, who is small in stature (1lb), but big of heart.
