FIRST DEDICATED ELEPHANT NURSERY IN SOUTH AFRICA TO BE ESTABLISHED AT JABULANI

The First Dedicated Elephant NurserySince the establishment of HESC close on 30 years ago, many orphaned and injured animals have been rehabilitated at the Centre. In the past three years alone these protégés have included four orphaned elephants in need of a home and a place to recuperate.
While HESC had the facilities, staff and passion to care for these waifs, it could never offer the comfort of kindred souls. But a dedicated elephant nursery in the process of being established at Jabulani, where the resident Jabulani elephant herd live, will rectify this.
Adine Roode, owner and managing director of Jabulani will soon have a long-time personal dream come to fruition when the first dedicated elephant nursery in South Africa opens at Jabulani.
Elephant orphans at the nursery will in future have the comfort and support of adult, sub-adult and juvenile elephants during their development stages, besides carers that will be with them 24 hours a day.
Lente Roode and the staff at HESC wish Adine well with this wonderful initiative. We admire her dedication to this noble cause and look forward to seeing many elephant orphans rehabilitated at the nursery.
