Miss Deaf SA visits HESC

The finalists enjoyed a jam-packed week here at the Centre, filled with new and exciting experiences, photo shoots and a lot of hard (and dirty) work!

This phenomenal group of ‘gung-ho’ ladies traded their ball gowns for overalls and got stuck in. Helping out wherever they were needed, this troop of smiling beauty queens took to each and every task with gusto.

Their ‘week to remember’ culminated in a spectacular pageant on Saturday the 9th of October, where Mbali Nkosi was crowned Miss DeafSA 2010. The event, held at Gethlane Lodge in Mpumalanga, saw a graceful Mbali step up to be crowned just shortly after winning the Miss Photogenic title.

This was Mbali’s second year of participation, and it came as a complete surprise to her when she was announced as this year’s winner.

“I did not expect to win this crown and two titles at that!” exclaimed a delighted Mbali to the media on Sunday morning.

When quizzed about her future plans, Mbali had this to say, “I would like to travel to schools for the deaf and motivate them because look at what I have achieved! I would also love to be a teacher because it would be easy to communicate with the kids.”

Congratulations Mbali! We wish you everything of the best for your year ahead.
