November Students – Update 3
We have reached the end of our first two weeks here at HESC. Whew that went by quickly!
Since we last wrote we have been very busy. Along with our daily duties of feeding the animals, making mince balls, watering and cleaning out the various enclosures, we were also treated to two fabulous excursions.
On Saturday we had a day trip to the Kruger National Park.
We saw four of the ‘big five’, as well as lots of other different animals (mammals, birds and lizards etc). And we also enjoyed a wonderful brunch in the bush, which was cooked especially for us by Karen and Tabs. It was a fantastic experience. The park is huge! If we saw even a quarter of it, it was a lot.
On Tuesday we did an Elephant Back Safari at Camp Jabulani. We had a very early start that morning, but it was well worth the effort of getting up so early. It was absolutely beautiful, and the elephants were remarkably well-behaved. They had saddles on too, so we were quite comfy.
And finally, as a special treat, we got to meet some cheetah cubs.

Warm greetings from Africa
