Leandri Weerts is our new admin assistant (aka front-office lady). After studying Travel and Tourism, Leandri landed up on our doorstep, where she holds the title as the first person that guests see when they arrive at our Centre!

Sydney Staples is our newest tour guide and fiancé to Leandri. Sydney has done everything from being an IT technician to working in sales. His passion to work with animals (and his fiancé, Leandri!) brought him to the HESC, where he is quickly proving to be a valuable member of the team.

Here’s what Leandri has to say:

What made you decide to work at HESC?

“I have always wanted a position in the tourism industry, and working at a place like HESC that takes care of so many beautiful animals is a dream come true!”

What is your favourite part about working here so far?

“So far, I have really enjoyed meeting all the lovely different animals and the people from all around the world. The team at HESC is also so great to work with.”

What are your future plans?

“My future plans would be to work at a bigger lodge and hopefully some day managing one of the best.”

Here’s what Sydney has to say:

What made you decide to work at HESC?

“My passion to work with animals and to teach people more about them and how we can help them made me want to work for a place like this.”

What is your favourite part about working here so far?

“Definitely being able to see these animals everyday and being able to show other people as well!”

What are your future plans?

“I would like to become a game ranger, and it is really important to me to learn everything about this beautiful place that we live in, so I can spread my knowledge and contribute to education. I would also like to be able to give guests the ultimate South African bushveld experience.”

Welcome Leandri & Sydney! We hope that you are both very happy here and that you learn a lot!
