We welcome our latest group of students who have joined us at HESC to take part in our student programme. As luck would have it, the students arrived in South Africa just in time for our beloved global icon and former state president, Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday celebrations. One of their first assignments at the Centre, was to participate in the Mandela Day celebrations with the learners from Paulos Ngobeni Primary School.

Hi. I’m Jordan Baines from England and I’m 20 years old. I’m a student , studying towards a BA Hons. Illustration at Portsmouth University. When I graduate I want to pursue a career in children’s book illustration and writing.

Hi, I’m Claire Hanlon, and am 20 years old. I’m going into third year at university and am interested in conservation, and what can be done to help to save animals that are in danger. I also have a keen interest in art and have enjoyed taking dance classes for years.

Hello, my name is Shannon Lonsdale and I’m 16 years old. I’m an A level student studying biology, chemistry, physics and maths. My dream is to become a vet and I have a passion for all animals and love working with animals.
Hi my name is Annelies de Vos, I’m a 21 year old student from Belgium. I’m very much in love with Africa and it’s animals, and I love to volunteer and work with them.
