Update on the orphaned hyena cub in our temporary custody

Hyena-2

Earlier this year we shared the story of an orphaned hyena cub that had been taken into temporary care at the centre. He was recently moved into a new bigger enclosure, where he gets to enjoy plenty of space, a little dam, lush vegetation and some shady trees.

This little one is now eight months old and his diet consists of 1 kg of mince, six times per week. It’s important for us to ensure that all animals housed at our centre (be it temporarily or permanently), live in environments that most resemble their natural habitat. The baby hyena is thriving in our care, and we are making sure there’s minimal human interaction, as we don’t want to compromise his possible reintroduction back into the wild.
