On Saturday morning, 27 January 2018, this wild dog was found lying next to the R40 road after being hit by a car. Both her femur and humerus had a fracture. After the XRays, drip, antibiotics and painkillers she was taken to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) for the weekend.

On Monday, Dr Sampie Ras did a sterling job of putting a pin, screws and wires in to stablize the fractures. After the procedure, she was brought back to the centre, where she will be looked after until she has recovered.
Updates on the wild dog will follow. Keep your eyes on the HESC blog!
